Art in Motion, presented in collaboration with the Springfield Art Museum (Springfield, MO), was a nine-piece concert dance production in which every dance was based on a painting or sculpture. This process required me to research on several levels—the concepts and intentions of each of the seven choreographers featured; the context and meaning of the artwork each was inspired by; and for some, the dances and choreographers that the pieces referenced, in order to have a shared understanding and language to communicate with the choreographers.
